What can be treated with hypnosis?
By Søren Andersen http://kolding-hypnose.dk
When you think of problems and the likelyhood that hypnosis will help in solving it, you have to consider the mind and the body as one single entity. Some people believe that physical symptoms should be treated with medications, but this is not always the case. The important evidence of this is the placebo effect! I will provide you with a list of things that I have either treated with hypnosis or read about being treated succesfully with hypnosis. Please do not consider this list to be exhaustive:
- Phobias - fear of:
Spiders, snakes, mice, open spaces, confined spaces, elevators, birds, height, flying, public speaking - Habits:
Smoking, eating, cleaning, nail biting, shopping, tooth grinding, thumb-sucking, hair pulling, skin picking - Performance improvement:
Spelling, reading, sports, charisma, speech, studying, sexual, job interviews - "Physical problems":
Asthma, allergies, warts, skin problems, headaches, pain management, morning sickness, addictions, high blood pressure, stress, insomnia
Generally speaking hypnosis can be used to treat any problem that is caused by inapproiate learning that has led to limiting beliefs. A whole lot of problems is actually caused by "false" learning of the unconscious mind, and shows physical symptoms. It's however important that you always consult your doctor for physical issues before consulting a hypnotist. Using hypnosis for pain management can relieve you from a lot of pain, but remember that pain is a signal from the body that you need to attend to something, it's not something that should be suppressed.
